He recently received a grant from the CSU Chancellor's Office to develop a machine learning-driven alert system aimed at predicting students who are at risk of underperforming in class. Last year, one of his students developed the world's most accurate artificial intelligence model for predicting Alzheimer's disease. Additionally, Dr. Mahto is actively working on the development of novel solar panels that utilize ML/AI not only to measure performance but also to control and improve efficiency.
His research interests include photovoltaics, design application of FPGAs, low power design, mixed-signal system design, hardware security, and RF electronics. In Fall 2019, Dr. Mahto received an Outstanding Professor Award for teaching.
